Linne 17 when ice caused it to skid into a ditch and hit a tree. Trooper Richard L. Bumps investigated the incident as state police logged multiple accidents in the four-county Seymour area over 24 hours.

Fire destroyed two large barns on the Donald H. Ernest farm in Marion township Jennings County near Marion Church. Four persons faced charges after four traffic mishaps as city police investigated incidents from Friday afternoon to early morning. The first crash occurred at 3 45 p m on Tipton street near Broadway, when a Columbus woman’s eastbound car failed to stop and struck the rear of a parked coach driven by Jack Wieneke. The rear of Wieneke’s auto sustained $100 in damage. the Columbus driver Emily Weaver was cited for reckless driving into the property of another.

He escaped from Tennessee State Penitentiary in 1960 while serving a 60 year term for armed robbery.
