City Seeks bids for fuels, stone and sand contracts
Seymour board of public works opened bids for coal gasoline fuel oil motor oil grease diesel fuel stone gravel sand and bituminous materials for 1961. Two firms won bituminous material and crushed stone bids while sand gravel coal went to lone bidders. Gasoline diesel fuel fuel oil motor oil and lubricants bids were taken under advisement. Motorist Injured As Auto Rams Bus At Seymour Depot
An 18 year old Seymour driver received a lip laceration when his 1955 sedan rammed the rear of an Eastern Greyhound Lines bus stopped at the Seymour depot at 2 08 am. The driver cited icy pavement and sleepiness as factors. Bus driver was Lamar G Ratcliff 46 Batavia. Vehicle damage: car 450 bus 150. No passengers injured.

Severe winter weather delayed bridge construction on I 65 north of Seymour after heavy snowfall. Work on four river bridges paused but was set to resume after the Christmas holiday, with the George Detzer Company of Cincinnati continuing other river structures and some highway work proceeding around the clock to beat cold.

A Washington County highway garage burned to the ground early today destroying most road maintenance equipment. Officials estimate losses at least 100000 dollars, likely higher, after firemen fought the blaze for over three hours. Eight large dump trucks twelve pickups and other equipment were lost. Six trucks were salvaged from the burning structure. The cause was not known immediately. County plans to relocate the facility were in progress.

Eight Rescued From Pine Ridge After Tanker Breakup
