Six Hurt In Two Crashes Near Uniontown
Six persons were injured in two area accidents during the pre holiday weekend as traffic was heavy. Five were hurt in a single crash on U S 31 about 0.8 mile north of Uniontown at 1 38 p m Saturday. Mrs James Harlan 33 New Albany driver of a 1954 delivery sedan sustained facial injuries and shock. Mrs Harry Pappas 31 New Albany had a neck injury and wore a neck collar at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Others in the car were not seriously hurt.

Zoning Variance Sought for Bottling Plant in Seymour
Jackson Investments filed with the Seymour Zoning Board of Appeals for a variance to allow Pepsi Cola Bottling Company to use 611 West Tipton Street as a bottling plant. Judge John M. Lewis ordered an adjourned term in Jackson Circuit Court and set trial and hearing dates for the Cunningham contest and several criminal cases. A 40 man petit panel and 12 man grand jury were drawn for the 48 day January term starting January 5. The crowded docket canceled vacation plans and February 6 was set for the voluntary manslaughter trial of Aubrey E. Weir following a fatal October crash in Seymour. Three Seymour men face trial for a statutory offense against a 15 year old Medora girl on February 16. Bus Plunge Kills 70 In Oaxaca Mexico
A speeding bus carrying villagers from Tlacolula to San Dionisio plunged into a ravine Sunday near Oaxaca killing 70 and injuring two in critical condition. The bus, legally 40 seats, carried riders on top and hanging from doors when the driver lost control on a curve.

Two Plead Guilty To Public Intoxication
Two Louisville men pled guilty in Mayor John C. Isaacs court to public intoxication. Alvis Miller, 39, was fined 20 dollars and costs. James M. Vibbert, 29, was fined 20 dollars plus 15 dollars costs and jailed for nonpayment. They were arrested at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on U S 31 near the U S 50 junction by state troopers.

French frogman completes 600 mile Fraser River swim
