Mobile Laboratory On Highways Here

A state police mobile laboratory will operate on highways in Jackson Jennings Bartholomew and Johnson counties to administer Breathalyzer tests to drivers suspected of drinking. Trooper Maurice L. Wright will run the unit from Seymour Post No. 7 with the new portable instrument mounted in his cruiser.

Seymour Community Schools Seeks Transfer of Funds

No objections were raised at a special Seymour board meeting to proposed appropriations totaling 5,785 from the unexpended balance for elementary and high school operation. The extra funds cover plant operation costs, pending a state budget hearing and further review by the county auditor.

Circuit Court Term Ends Today in Jackson

The 72 day October term closed with Judge John M. Lewis presiding. Vacation follows for two weeks until the January term opening on January 7. Findings in the Lawrence Smith vs Earl M. Smith partition suit ordered sale of real estate with J. W. Richart as commissioner and detailed pro rata disbursements to costs attorney fees and various parties. Clifford Ault pleaded not guilty to DUI and public intoxication with bond set at 1000 and order to secure counsel by December 28. Roy Newby v Ladlee found for plaintiff holder in due course for 261.35 plus interest and 50 attorney fees. Page continues.

Judge Renames Jackson County Jury Commissioners for 1957

Judge John M. Lewis of Jackson Circuit Court reappointed Philip Cordes Sr of Seymour Republican and W R Butt of Brownstown Democrat as jury commissioners for 1957. They work with the circuit court clerk to prepare and draw petit and grand juror lists for upcoming terms.
