Three Seymour youths sentenced in armed holdup case
Three youths from Seymour and one absconder from the Air Force pled guilty to conspiracy to commit a felony in the Jackson Circuit Court at Brownstown for the December 11 holdup attempt on Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence J. Kasting. Donald J. Ballman Edward H. Anderson and Robert L. Johnson were sentenced to two to 14 years at the Indiana state reformatory with $25 fines. They face transfer to the reformatory Thursday to begin terms.

Walesboro looks to new eight room school after blaze
Wayne Township officials plan a new eight room school in Walesboro after a Monday fire damaged the old brick building. Firemen contained the blaze with heating stove suspected as the cause. Pupils were sent to Bethel Baptist Church for a Christmas party, and classes will move to Robbe and Sweet Ireland facilities while funds and bonds are sought.

Husband and Wife Treated for Left Leg Ailments
A North Vernon couple, Herman Singer aged 55 and his wife Ethel 48, were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital for left leg injuries. Herman had left knee surgery this Monday. Ethel broke her left leg above the ankle after a fall on Tuesday. Her condition was listed as good at the hospital today.

One Killed 50 Hurt By Quake In California
Eureka California reports a Tuesday quake killed Carl Wilkerson 42 and injured 50 with two million dollars in damage. Aftershocks are forecast by professor H D Mac Ginnie Humboldt State College but expected to be less violent. Youth Held For Columbus Charge
George Emily, 21, of Seymour, turned himself in at the Seymour state police post after a manhunt by city and state police on a Columbus charge. He allegedly passed two fraudulent checks for 50 dollars and a 27.95 check for clothing at Columbus stores, and left 1200 and 1300 frauds as furniture payments. He is jailed for arraignment in Bartholomew Circuit Court and is on parole from California for forgery.

Doyle Brown Ends 32-Year Career As Mail Carrier
Doyle Brown 59 of Freetown has retired after 31 years 11 months as a rural mail carrier in Jackson county. He began at Kurtz on January 2 1923 when Fern Starks was postmistress and has delivered six days a week. Brown recalls using horses in winter and an automobile in better weather during his Kurtz service.

Bleak Christmas Follows House Fire in Waymansville
A six room Waymansville home owned by Mr. and Mrs. Art Bradley and their five children was destroyed by fire Monday leaving seven people homeless. Mrs. Bradley narrowly led the youngsters to safety as the blaze started in the upper part of the house and origin remains undetermined. The home was partially insured and gifts for the children were lost. Mrs Paula Teegarden, wife of the employer Mr Bradley works for, appealed for Santa Claus helpers to assist the family in Columbus.
