Mrs Cora Jaynes 78 Dies at Home in Jackson
Mrs. Cora Jaynes 78 lifelong Jackson county resident died Tuesday night at 309 Hancock street after a six week illness. She was born March 8 1870 in Neoga Illinois and married George T. Jaynes September 11 1896 in Brownstown who survives. Also surviving are six children 26 grandchildren eight great grandchildren one sister and other relatives. Funeral services go forward Friday at 2 pm from Voss Mortuary with Elder John H Engleking in charge burial at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call after noon Thursday at the mortuary.

Woman Fined After Two Car Accident in Illinois
Mrs. Francis Stewart of Chester Illinois was fined five dollars and costs for failure to yield right of way after a two car crash at the U S 31 and 50 junction Tuesday. In the Stewart vehicle Eldon Stewart and two children were injured. in the Owens car Othal and Clara Owens and Jewel and Raymond Wise sustained injuries. The Stewart car was a total wreck and Owens car damage approximately 400 dollars.

The Public Service Company of Indiana filed in Lawrence Circuit Court a condemnation suit against Aaron Miller seeking right of way and easement for an electric transmission line from Edwardsport through Bedford to Seymour. Accident Victim Native of Brownstown Dies After Route 31 Crash
Charles Bland 73 of Columbus died in Methodist Hospital Indianapolis from injuries after a Tuesday night crash on U S Route 31 northeast of Seymour. A Brownstown native, he moved to Bartholomew county at 15 and worked as a farmer and tree trimmer. He had become lost a week earlier, pushing a two wheeled cart about 18 miles south from Columbus, narrowly missing several cars before being struck by Joseph S. Yakley of Louisville.

Indianapolis December 22 Forty persons will die in Indiana traffic accidents between Thursday and January 2 if the state police forecast by Col. Robert Rossow comes true. The superintendent says 40 deaths would push the 1948 toll beyond 1,109.
