Three 13 Year Olds Halted Enroute To New Mexico Trip
Three Indiana youths aged 13 were detained by city police 60 miles from home on a trip to New Mexico. They carried canned food and clothing, stated they rode a bus to Franklin then hitchhiked to Seymour, and were later returned to Indianapolis by their families.

Eleven year old Jimmy Wisehart formerly of Medora Indiana gains the ability to walk again. Doctors in Phoenix Arizona expect a full recovery after severe leg burns sustained last August when a model airplane project ignited his clothing. He had earlier received a letter of encouragement from President Truman while at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. The Wisehart family moved to Phoenix for the father’s health, and Arizona Governor Sidney Osborn sent a supportive note from his wheelchair.

Seek Man Who Fired Shot Here
State police hunt a man who allegedly fired a revolver shot at a fellow worker at the Seymour Tool and Engineering plant on West Eighth Street this morning. The bullet damaged a machine and narrowly missed Irvin J. Reichenbach of Cortland. A charge was filed in justice court, but the suspect remained at large.

Double funeral for Mr and Mrs Hawkins of Shoals
City woman’s brother Mr George Hawkins and his wife were buried in Shoals Cemetery after services at the Shoals Methodist Church. Hawkins died last Monday. his widow died Wednesday night delaying the original funeral. Survivors include four sons led by Rev Robert Hawkins of Odon and a daughter.

Meredith Nicholson dies at 81 after varied career
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Indianapolis for Meredith Nicholson the last survivor of Indiana's Gold en Age of literature. A journalist writer and diplomat he served as minister to Paraguay Venezuela and Nicaragua and authored The House of a Thousand Candles and The Port of Missing Men. He died Sunday in Methodist Hospital after a long illness. He is survived by three children four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
