Final plans for Seymour Post No. 89 American Legion sponsored kiddies Christmas party were set at a Tuesday meeting. A free 10 am moving picture show for Seymour children will be at the Vondee Theater with no treats after the show to allow the Legion to distribute candy to children in need.
The Daily Tribune will not publish on Saturday for the holiday. Carrier boys in Seymour will collect Friday instead of Saturday. Submit news or ads by Friday for inclusion in the Friday edition. Church notices run Friday. ministers should file by noon Thursday.
Various agencies present 118 names to receive baskets and gifts for 332 children under thirteen. 450 pounds of candy plus food, fruit, and toys will be distributed by Legion members with help from merchants and the Auxiliary. Four trucks will deliver on Christmas Eve while police assist at a free movie event. The Seymour Welfare Association directors decline Christmas baskets due to finances, urging continued aid through grocery orders. Local churches and groups plan additional distributions as shoppers crowd Seymour.
A fire in the city building basement near east doors was discovered by Seymour firemen who extinguished it. Prisoners in the city jail allegedly dropped a lighted cigarette through a floor hole into paper, causing the two blazes with smoke filling the jail and spreading through the building but causing no damage.
Tuesday's December term heard many cases with trials and dismissals. A will contest was set for January 17. Notable actions include Gardner vs Murphy damages set for trial January 14 and Kovener vs Pheral on account. Judgment of 201.82 awarded to plaintiff in Kovener case. Agnes E. Sweany, longtime Seymour resident born August 1, 1860, died at 12:30 this morning at 333 South Park Street after a week long illness. She was married to L. S. Sweany in 1892 and is survived by her husband, two children, a brother, three sisters, and four grandchildren. Funeral 2:30 Friday at Voss Mortuary with Riverview Cemetery burial. viewing after 7 p.m. tonight.
Los Angeles police announced they would discontinue further investigation into the death of film comedian Ted Healy after an autopsy showed he died of natural causes. The Dec 22 report attributes the finding to the autopsy, closing the case as a mysterious fist fight had previously prompted inquiry.
The Seymour Lions Club held its annual Christmas party at the Lions Den on Jeffersonville Avenue Tuesday night. Frankin singer Prof. Glenn M. Seitz performed solos with accompanist Mrs. J. R. Mitchell as attendees enjoyed carols and decorations.

One home on Noble Street was quarantined for scarlet fever with Woodrow Bush diagnosed. The Maher residence at Homestead Avenue was released from quarantine for diphtheria, keeping total quarantined or posted homes at three in the city.
