Seymour officials plan to begin a 1100 foot concrete sewer line project January 5 using forty local men in alternating three day relays to provide part time employment. 27 inch sewer tile arrived from Indianapolis with more on the way, and local labor will handle tile laying and future production.
Four persons escaped death when a Western Air Express tri motor crashed into a house near the Alhambra terminal while carrying a 1500 pound air mail load. Pilot Bart Cox and co pilot George Sherwood leaped free as it hit high tension wires and the Toner residence burst into flames. A passenger A Ousterhaut was burned slightly. They rescued Toner from the burning home. Value of mail not disclosed.
Columbus Indiana December 22 Mrs Oscar Anderson returning from a Christmas shopping trip to Columbus found her farm home twelve miles southwest of here a ruin of smoldering ashes. The fire is believed to have started from a defective flue. Loss placed at 3000 with no one at home.

Funeral services for Alma Sitterding age nineteen who died at her parents home one mile northeast of Tampico will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the home and at 11:30 at Sauers Lutheran Church. Rev J Th Destinon to officiate burial in Seymour Lutheran Cemetery. Survived by husband Wilbur and four brothers Carl Alfred Irvin and Herbert Rosemeyer. Born March 18 1911 in Jackson County. Member of Sayers Lutheran Church.
Martha J. Gay 82, Benton County pioneer and widow of Curtis T. Gay, died at her home in Fowler Indiana. Born in Montgomery County she had lived in Benton County sixty years. Survivors include three sons.

In Tampa Florida eleven year old Juanita Brown pleads with Postmaster Lett to locate her father Paul Brown believed in Seymour. Her letter explains she has never met him and asks for a Christmas letter from him to ease her and her mother's sorrow.
Conner Adams of Norman entered a plea of not guilty to an assault and battery with intent to rape in Jackson circuit court before Judge James A. Cox at Brownstown. He was released on 1000 bond. The grand jury, in session since term began, returned multiple indictments and another new one. Arrests on these indictments were yet to be made. The court adjourned at noon.
Santa Claus Indiana sees a surge of Christmas mail as James F. Martin reports daily letters arriving at about a thousand in November and now around three thousand. The town name arose after a November decision to avoid duplication with Santa Fe and a holiday nudge.
The Associated Press reports Florida strawberries, picked yesterday, arrived in New York via airplane. A flight by Dudley Reed delivered 432 pints, described as the first outdoor grown Florida berries of the season, from Wauchula to Roosevelt Field in about 11 hours 50 minutes. Most of the lot was auctioned to a restaurant.

His family, once prosperous at 2050 North Chester, faced poverty as police traced a car bearing his license and blood-stained clothing to Danville, Tennessee. He returns deaf in one ear, jobless, but alive, to joy and relief for his four children Oletha 12 Imogene 10 Max Boyd 5 Martha Louise 1.
In Augusta Georgia Dr William Lyon Phelps a Yale professor remarks that lasting marriages depend on the art of living as much as on a good golf stance He says there are no hard rules for happiness in marriage only common sense and mutual consideration The professor and his wife celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary and plan Augusta as his permanent home after retirement in 1933 receiving telegrams from friends worldwide
