Harold Tharp and Son of Fountain City bid 658 201 68 for four bridges on the relocated US 31 segment in Muscatatuck bottoms southeast of Seymour. Keith Riley Construction came second at 688 232 15 with six bids total. Engineers projected 826 592 86. The work includes seven spans over the Vernon Fork with 30 foot roadway and two foot wide walks, plus approach grading.

Three Area Men Begin State Farm Sentences
Three prisoners were moved to the Indiana state farm Tuesday to begin sentences from Judge John M. Lewis. Joe Bevers, 20, Columbus R8, fined 1 dollar and costs for driving with a suspended license and 30 days on the farm. Kenneth Frost, 22, Salem, and Marvin Stewart, 20, Seymour, fined 25 dollars and costs each and 60 days. Frost and Stewart, arrested Monday night for theft of a tire from a car owned by Robert Scifres in Seymour, had the tire recovered in Salem.
