Traction Service to End Between Indianapolis and Terre Haute

Confession Ties Crothersville Man to Five Indianapolis Safe Cracks
Bayne Nicholas, about 39, of Crothersville, confessed to Detective Don Winn and Marshal Sampson Mitchell during a trip to Indianapolis that he took part in five Indianapolis safe robberies. The admission led to the arrest of several others, including Frank Elliott, who with Nicholas was previously sentenced from Jackson County in 1932 for blowing a safe at the Briner store in Crothersville.

Death Calls Miss Newsom After Long Illness
Miss Verna Newsom aged fifty five a former high school teacher died Wednesday morning at her father Pennington Newsom's home near Elizabethtown after an eleven year illness with sleeping sickness. Services set for Friday at Sandcreek Friends Church with burial beside. She taught English and French at Clifford Franklin High Schools and was born January 30 1894 in the same house. Survived by father step mother sister and three brothers Altus Norris Ray. Ray in Saskatchewan Norris and Altus near Elizabethtown.
