The Seymour post office celebrates 125 years with a 2 PM program at Seymour High School auditorium and an open house at the post office. Local officials and descendants of the first postmasters attend, recalling Meedy W. Shields and George Greene among others, with a rural carrier Swope and a vintage delivery wagon on display. Local residents recall horse drawn mail delivery as the link to the outside world.

The Crothersville area board authorized a $5,000 federal grant under the Title IV program to fund an elementary math program and adult education courses. The grant funds instructional materials and teacher training for 18 elementary and 3 junior high teachers, running Jan 1 to Sept 30. An 18 3 junior high staff will be trained while adult classes run Jan 16 to late March with a $3 fee and offer diverse topics.

Tractorcade to Meet AAM in Tifton Wednesday Noon
Six speakers from the AAM are due in Tifton Georgia at Freeman Field where they will be met by Jackson County AAM members. A tractorcade will transport the Georgia men through Seymour to the AAM headquarters east of Seymour on U.S. 50. John Gillaspy notes the trip will take about an hour and the group will brief on the south strike progress. The south is reportedly locked up with no movement in agricultural products. TV reporters from Indianapolis and Louisville will attend. Farmers have been striking since December 14 seeking 100 percent parity for farm products.
