Baby Suffocates in Crown Point Tragedy
The nine month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Ivan F Afital of Crown Point died Monday from suffocation after a toy telephone became lodged in her mouth. Volunteer firefighters removed the item and an ambulance team treated her for about an hour but she did not recover.

Thomas Julius Sergent, a 26 year old drifter from Hazel Park Michigan, was sentenced to life in prison in Durango Colorado for the slaying of Milton D Moeller and his wife Mildred on a Seymour area campground. The jury's verdict dictated the punishment and an appeal was planned.
