Auto Demolished Injures Couple on Icy Roadside
A 1951 sedan skidded on ice on U S Road 31 four miles south of the Sey mour junction injuring Rev William Earl Hinshaw 25 Bainbridge Ga and his wife Helen 25. He suffered a bruised shoulder and forehead laceration she a bruised hip. They were taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital for evaluation but released. The car rolled over after leaving the road and fence near Charles Pfenning residence.

Uriah FE Elrod, 74, former Seymour resident, died Wednesday in Comfort Texas. He was born in the vicinity, son of the late Mac and Emeline Elrod, worked for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, and was married to Lenora Spencer. Surviving are the widow and two sisters Emma Owens of Franklin and Dawn Elrod of Indianapolis. Funeral plans include burial in Riverview Cemetery and a morning train return to Seymour.

Astoria reported a Danish motorship Er ica burning in the Columbia River near Tongue Point as the Coast Guard raced to rescue passengers and crew. Officials said 98 were aboard refuged in Tongue Point barracks while 10 to 14 were unaccounted for. total aboard later reported as 112. Arthur Capper Dies Former U S Senator at 86
Arthur Capper of Kansas Republican and longtime U S senator from Kansas died Wednesday night at age 86 after a period of ill health pneumonia. He retired from the Senate January 3, 1949 after three decades in office. Capper built a publishing and broadcasting empire including The Topeka Daily Capital The Kansan and two radio stations.
