Traces of Indiana's first heavy snowfall covered Seymour and vicinity after an edge of a storm dumped six inches in Indianapolis and reached Jackson county. About half an inch fell here as highway travel became hazardous and hills and intersections were sanded. by Sunday morning most wet roads had melted. The White River flood threat was averted as snow fell instead of rain. Three roads near Seymour remained closed by high waters: Road 250 between Brownstown and Uniontown, Road 39 north of Little York, and Road 256 near Austin. River stage today was 6.8 feet, after reaching 14.2 feet last Thursday.

Truck Driver Fined in Jackson Circuit Court

Man Hurt At Cummings Veneer Plant Leaves Hospital
Robert Speckner of 622 South Carter Street was released from Schneck Memorial Hospital Sunday after his left hand was amputated last Monday in a accident at the B. J. Cummings Veneer Company plant. He injured his hand at a clipper machine while freeing a wood piece lodged in the device.

Gas Company Christmas Party Honors Longtime Employee

Arthur Veal of Seymour received a platform rocker and a floor lamp for his December 31 retirement after 56 years in gas meter repair. Herman Horstman of Indianapolis, guest speaker and Public Service Company of Indiana official, shared memories with Veal. Frank Coyle announced a Christmas bonus of one week’s pay for all employees on December 23.

Anna M. Seward 76 active church member died after a fall on the front steps of the First Methodist Church. Funeral rites for William Oscar Henderson of Medora R1 farmer die shortly before noon Friday will be held at 1 pm Tuesday at Leesville Methodist Church with Rev Edwin Williams. Burial will be in Leesville Cemetery. He was 75, born May 23, 1875, in Jackson county to John W and Euretta Black Henderson. He married Mary Isabelle Douglas on December 10, 1889. she survives along with son Kenneth Henderson of Bedford, daughter Mrs William James Hall of Vassar Michigan, one half sister Grace Henderson, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He had been ill four weeks.

Crashes Cause Several Slight Injuries Over Weekend
