Last Rites for Mr Cartwright in Brownstown
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Sunday at the Nazarene Church in Brownstown for Curtis John Cartwright age 53. He died Friday afternoon in Brownstown after two months of heart trouble and lung congestion. Seven dead in two Indiana car crashes near Laporte
Authorities pushed the weekend traffic toll as ten lives died statewide. In one crash Harold Northam 32 South Bend and six others including Edward Snyder 35 Laporte and six Snyder children perished when Northam’s car struck a stalled truck east of Laporte. Jack Wetter 38 Mishawaka driver of the truck was held on bond as a material witness. A second Laporte crash fatally injured Frances Kelley 29 Laporte when her husband’s car skidded into another vehicle driven by Harry Messina of Michigan City. Additional fatalities occurred in Indianapolis and Elwood as coroner inquiries followed.
