Reuben Headley a 65 year old farmer and Charles Hawkins about 42 were arrested after federal and local officers seized a 25 gallon still two barrels of mash a pint of mule liquor and large jugs from a barn loft on Headley’s Meadley farm near Crothersville. Headley confessed describing a partnership with Hawkins. The eighty acre farm carries a mortgage of 3200. Hawkins denied connection but was jailed in Brownstown with Headley to face charges after investigation.

DeMAR WITNESS IN CARNEFIX LIQUOR CASE
Henry DeMar a Seymour man testified in Indianapolis court on Wednesday in the trial of Louis Carnefix druggist charged with violating federal prohibition laws. DeMar said he drove for Charles L. Baird once convicted for impersonating a federal officer and that they bought a drink with a kick at Carnefix’s drug store. Carnefix was remanded to jail on 2500 bond, posted by Indianapolis parties, and Judge Anderson called Carnefix’s testimony rank perjury.

Rushville City Councilman Sharp Dies After Wounding
Rushville councilman Luther C. Sharp died early Tuesday at a Rushville hospital after injuries from a December 8 shooting. An autopsy showed a bullet lodged in the pelvic bone. his death followed secondary heart shock. Sharp was a cousin of Edward Drees of Rider Packing and learned of the death of his uncle Henry Bruning, delaying his rush to Rushville.
