Seymour Council Passes Parking and Annexation Ordnances
In a year end meeting the Seymour city council approved two new ordinances on third reading, advanced three annexation measures, and introduced three more. An amendment limits towing and storage costs to the offender, extends parking time on the B&O lot to 72 hours, and clarifies that passenger vehicles are exempt from truck parking rules on specified areas. The ordinance prohibits passenger cars or school buses from parking more than 24 hours on city lots except the B&O lot with designated areas for trucks.

Bogus $20 Bills Reported Across Indiana Cities
Local merchants and citizens were warned to watch for counterfeit twenty dollar bills circulating in several southern Indiana towns. Seymour reports no complaints while Shelbyville authorities say at least seven fake bills were passed there on Monday.

A Seymour city police sergeant, Calvin W. Theele, is indicted for sodomy by a Jackson County grand jury. He was released on a $4 000 bond and temporarily relieved from duty as the Seymour Works Board reviews the case. The 1967 Christmas Basket Fund reached 980.87 today, fueled by a 145.87 employee gift from Arvin Industries and a Florida contribution from a former Seymour resident who asked for anonymity. Today’s 249.87 from 15 donors marked the largest single day total yet this year, with 49th year sponsorship by Seymour American Legion Post 89 and the Seymour Daily Tribune.

Yule Tree With Meaning at St. Paul Lutheran Church
The Rev. John W. Tangman and congregation at Borchers near Cortland erect a 15 foot Chrismon cedar in the sanctuary with 150 ornaments in 32 designs. Made by Ruth Circle Mary Martha Luther League and others, it cost about 75 with 500 hours of effort and 280 lights. The tree remains through New Year and will be viewable during services with explanations of each ornament given in a Sunday service.

Jet crashes into market in Tucson killing four
Four people died when a U S Air Force F4D jet crashed into the rear of a Tucson supermarket and set fire to the shopping center and adjacent homes. The pilot and navigator bailed out. all missing were later accounted for. Identified dead include Sherry Tilton, 19, a meat packer, and a 34 year old supermarket worker. An Air Force investigation is planned.
