St Paul Lutheran Church to Dedicate Annex Sunday
St Paul Lutheran Church will dedicate a new Educational and Social Annex this Sunday at 2 pm with Dr A W Engelbrecht of the Illinois District ALC as speaker. The project began after a 1957 planning process, featuring a 45 by 75 foot frame building with sandstone veneer and redwood siding, a large auditorium and stage.

Retired North Vernon Barber Dies In Crash
An 84 year old North Vernon barber died at the scene of a crash east of North Vernon on U S 50. Peter Wahl and Epraim R Bridges were in the wreck with Wahl the total loss vehicle and Bridges injured. Funeral services for Wahl will be held at St Mary's Church North Vernon with burial in St Mary's Cemetery.

Youth Injured In Two Car Collision In Crothersville
Four year old Thomas E. Allen, in Crothersville R2, suffered a bruised chin when a two car crash occurred at East Tipton and South O'Brien at 12 08 p m. He was examined at Schneck Memorial Hospital and released. Emma Marie Alves drove a 1957 herdtop east on East Tipton and Pauline Dennison a 1950 coupe north on South O'Brien. Dennison struck the Alwes vehicle in the right center. Damage included $150 to the Alwes car and $100 to the Dennison car. Police officer James F. Flynn investigated. no citations issued.

A severe unseasonal outbreak killed 11 people and injured more than 100 as tornadoes ripped through Murphysboro Mount Vernon and nearby towns. Destruction centered in Mount Vernon with 75 to 100 homes damaged or wrecked and Murphysboro suffering nine deaths and widespread debris.

He was released. John T Borden 64 of 659 South Vine street had an X ray of his left hand at 9 a m Wednesday after being struck by a large rubber band at Seymour Manufacturing Company. He was released after examination.
