William F. Proffit aged 69 of Seymour died Tuesday night at Schneck Memorial Hospital after a 12 day illness. Born in Corbin Kentucky on June 25 1882 he was married to Maryetta Blackford and survived by four children Robert Proffit Alex Proffit Mrs Margaret Freez and Elmer Proffit. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 pm from Voss Mortuary with Dr A A Cohn officiating. Burial followed at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 pm.

Lieutenant Berry Named On Communist POW List In Korea
First Lieutenant Waldron Berry of 406 Carter Boulevard, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Berry, appears on a Communist list of Americans held in Korean prisoner camps. The AP notes Berry has been missing since November 11, 1950, and a September 9 letter printed by his father confirms he was alive in a camp. Berry, a West Point graduate and former Shields High valedictorian, was a U S Army Air Force pilot.

Deaf and blind give Christmas service in Minnesota church
