Sailor Wounded in Downtown Seymour Shooting
A Ewing sailor on leave was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital for a back bullet wound from a Wednesday night shooting at the Newby ice cream parlor in Seymour. James Owens, 23, of Seymour, is held on an assault and battery with intent to kill charge and to be filed in Jackson Circuit Court. Keith Butler, 18, also on leave from the Navy, is listed as not seriously harmed.

Buses In Crash Save Clear Spring High Students
Two school buses carrying Clear Spring High School pupils were involved in a crash on State Road 37 near the Lawrence Monroe line. Local Minister Holds Rites for Mrs. Coons
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Montgomery Indiana for Mrs. Etta Jane Coons 66 wife of Len Coons.
