Bridge damage fixes after U S 31 crash east of Seymour
Workmen of the Seymour sub district maintenance department of the Indiana state highway commission completed temporary repairs to a bridge on U S 31 east of the Kriete curve after a collision with a large truck. Mary Dell Hale fifteen of Franklin sustained head lacerations and was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Her brother Wilbur Hale also suffered lacerations. The crash involved a 1942 coach driven by Clem Edgar Tucker and a 1940 semi trailer truck driven by Harold D Dies. The left side of the truck was torn away and the left gas tank torn loose causing a fire before responders arrived.

Thomas J. Rayl age 75 longtime Jackson county resident and carpenter died this afternoon at his home on Seymour Road Noblitt addition Seymour after three weeks illness. Born January 26 1870 he was the son of Thomas and Mary J Weddel Rayl and is survived by his widow Mary Elizabeth Morris Rayl five children and several siblings. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
