Rites Held Today For Local Man's Sister
Mr and Mrs J S Tolliver of 702 West Second Street attended funeral services for Mrs Lela Brooks aged forty three in Mitchell. Mrs Brooks died after fatal burns from an explosion in the basement while using kerosene to light the furnace. Her husband Claude Brooks suffered burns on the hands trying to save her.

Verdict in Robbins Death Reported After Inquest
A verdict of death from extensive third degree burns covering the body was returned by deputy coroner S. F. Tower after an inquest into the death of Sherman Robbins of Crothersville. Robbins 78 started a fire in his stove with kerosene in his room at 304 Moore Street when an explosion caused flames. He died about an hour after being taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital. Robbins was a Crothersville resident for 35 years, member of the Crothersville Baptist Church, survived by a brother W. H. Robbins of Council Bluffs Iowa. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Wednesday at Kovener Funeral Home, with burial in Uniontown Cemetery.

Hodapp Rites to be Held Here Thursday
Funeral services for Martin Hodapp age eighty two will be held Thursday at 2 PM at Voss Mortuary with Dr Clyde S Black of Trinity Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Hodapp died at City Hospital Indianapolis after injuries from a Friday night auto strike while transferring street cars in downtown Indianapolis. He was born May 10 1862 in Jennings County and was a former president of the Farmers Hominy Mill. He had lived in Indianapolis with his daughters since retiring. Survived by two sons four daughters and four sisters, all sisters living in Seymour.

Lt Keith Foster formerly stationed at Freeman Field and later an instructor at the local field is reported missing in action over Germany since November 8. His wife Mrs Jo Foster residing in Creston, Town received the news on Thanksgiving Day. The Fosters lived at 619 West Fourth street during cadet days and later near Uniontown before his overseas deployment with their young son Kevin.

President Roosevelt returned to Washington from a three week vacation at Warm Springs Georgia. He arrived by special train and immediately resumed duties at the White House.
