Two CMU Swimmers Die In I-65 Crash Near Battle Creek
Two Central Michigan University swimming team members James Wilson 19 Battle Creek and Robert Currie 18 Dearborn were killed in a three vehicle crash on I-65 a quarter mile north of U S Alternate 31. Seven others injured including Michael Keevan 18 Lansing who suffered a broken nose and head lacerations.

Medora High Builds Historic Yale Parade
Medora held a 45 minute Christmas parade featuring eight floats from four classes and local groups. The sophomore class won both the floating trophy and first open prize of 25 dollars with a Santa float sponsored by Randys Market. Hall Lumber backed the second place senior float and Shepard's Food Market backed the third place freshman float. Santa then handed out treats at the conservation clubhouse after the event sponsored by the Carr Township Conservation Club and Medora Civic Club.

The sheriff s department pistol club elected officers Saturday night at the Texile Workers Union Hall south of Seymour. James Olmstead was chosen president with Sgt. Richard D. Barker as vice president and Lt. Robert Whitsett as secretary treasurer. Trophies and certificates were awarded, with top honors going to Lyman Goben and Barker in expert classes, and Gene Applewhite leading sharpshooter. Gift prizes and a guest talk by Jeffrey Nierman completed the event.
