Suffocation Causes Death In Austin Fire
A 47-year-old Austin man Charley Ray Jessee of 122 Wilber Avenue was found dead in the living room after a Sunday morning house fire. Scott County coroner James A. Buchanan ruled suffocation from smoke inhalation as the cause. Firemen were summoned to the scene.

Grand Jury In Session Faces Indictments In Jackson County
The Jackson County grand jury met in special session at the Brownstown courthouse today under Judge Jonathan J. Robertson at the request of Prosecuting Attorney Robert R. Brown. Foreman Thelma Martin and seven members were named. Earlier in October the same grand jury indicted Malcolm J. Boyle and Samuel K. Jackson on multiple counts. both men moved to quash but were denied and remain free on bond. A Loogootee man received a two day jail term after pleading guilty to two circuit court charges.
