Fred A Schleibaum 51 former Jackson township trustee and Democratic official died at 326 West Brown Street after a four month illness. He served two terms as trustee from 1931 to 1938 and was active in politics. Funeral 1:30 PM Wednesday from Voss Mortuary and 2 PM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. burial Riverview Cemetery. He is survived by wife Mary, a daughter, two brothers, a sister, a granddaughter, and his mother.

Heywood Broun columnist and president of the American Newspaper Guild died at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center after pneumonia developed from a heavy cold. He was 51 and had been admitted Thursday night. his condition worsened early today with a high fever and unconsciousness.

Busy session in mayor's court on disturbing officer cases
In city court this morning two local youths Harmon H Stockoff and Dale Stockoff were fined 11 and three months at the penal farm suspended on charges of interfering with an officer during an arrest of Lance Johnson for public intoxication. Johnson was fined 20 and given a suspended sixty day sentence with warning of harsher terms on re-arrest. Creosote Blaze At REMC Plant Near Browns Town
A creosote fire at the REMC creosoting plant near Browns Town continues burning after Saturday fire. Damages estimated at 700 to 800 dollars, mainly in two tanks. Nick Vogel narrowly escaped while welding inside a tank as a spark ignited creosote saturated ground. A crow's nest was destroyed and about twenty five poles burned but usable. Brownstown CCC camp and fire department kept the blaze from spreading to the forest. Extinguishing chemical not available locally.

Bound Over By Federal Jury In Indianapolis Hearings
Two Seymour youths Lawrence Black age nineteen and Kerneth Tankersley age twenty were bound over to the Federal grand jury after allegedly signing confessions to entering the Seymour post offices and taking parcels. They were transported to Indianapolis by Deputy United States Marshal Andrew M. Tait for arraignment before United States Commissioner Stoward S. Young. Also arraigned was J. A. David fifty five of Winchester who claimed to be a foreign agent and was released on his own recognizance after a warrant charging obscene letters to Julius Wiehser United States marshal.
