Judge John C. Branaman presides as Jackson Circuit Court in Brownstown opens its December term with extensive business and multiple trial dates. Several cases are dismissed while others proceed with trials set for January 2 4 5 9 11 1935 and related rulings include pleas of guilty and fines.
Berlin reports sudden cancellation of leaves for secret police suggests a broad moral cleanup. Officers on vacation rush back to receive orders as raids in Berlin and suburbs target bars and public baths with about 600 detained. Purge mainly targets storm troops.
Six Seymour city council members met at 7:30 PM for a regular session marking the end of five years of service for five members. Henry I. T. J. Rowland of Knoxville Tenn father of Mrs Nan Griffiths formerly of Seymour died Monday night in Knoxville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Knoxville with burial there. A retired manufacturer he ran a broom factory in Nashville for many years. Survived by two daughters Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Joe Butler both of Knoxville and two granddaughters Mrs Merle Ward and Miss Hortense Griffiths living here.
Adelina A. Trimpe aged 73 of Seymour rural route died Monday at 2 45 PM after about a year of illness. She lived in the county 47 years, born November 16 1861 in Bartholomew County. Survived by four children Fred Z. Trimpe John Trimpe Mrs Mart Hehman and Mrs Emma McKain. brother William Miller. three half sisters. Funeral Thursday at 12 30 PM from home and 2 PM at Borders Lutheran Church. Burial Borchers Cemetery.
St Pauls Congregational Church will host a regional institute Thursday featuring speakers Rev Simon Bennett of Manese Rev William McKnight missionary to Japan and Rev Meow a native Hoosier missionary in Japan for thirteen years. Attendees from St Pauls Pleasant Ridge and Liberty Churches join for all day sessions with a noon covered dish lunch.
In Havana a night of revolutionary fever ended as authorities reported terror episodes with blasts injuring three women and two men. Fourteen arrests followed for placing explosives while police detained ninety bus passengers amid dynamite threats. Army police vigilance remained high as searches continued.
A collision on U S Highway 50 five miles west of Aurora killed Mary Morgan 18, Mrs Marian Wilcox Morgan, and John Buddenberg 50. Alice Morgan was severely hurt and taken to Cincinnati Good Samaritan Hospital. Buddenberg drove east in the oil truck. Mrs Morgan and her daughter were Denver residents returning home for Christmas.
Sis Arthur Cochran of this city pleaded guilty in city court to assault and battery alleged from Sunday night at Second and Ewing. He was fined 1 and costs totaling up to 11 and sentenced to six months at the penal farm, suspended on good behaviour. Mayor Burkhart warned him to stay out of trouble and avoid land disputes or face immediate penal farm transfer. Arrest cited Herbert Davis.
Federal authorities opened an inquiry into letters sent to Representative Foulkes of Michigan and President Roosevelt in which the writers threatened the president’s life and also menaced the congressman. The case involves federal investigators examining the motives behind the alarming communications.
Dr. Townsend threatened to pressure Congress to adopt a pension plan paying 200 a month to every person over sixty who quits work. He outlined forming Townsend clubs on Capitol Hill and said 15,000,000 people have signed petitions. A tax would fund the program, with details under study and a draft bill forthcoming.

Mrs. Anna Truex of Bartholomew County died at 5:30 p.m. She was born in 1872 near the community where she lived all her life. Funeral services are to be held at 1:30 p.m. from the Ogilville Christian Church with burial at White Creek Cemetery. She married Daniel Truex about forty years ago and is survived by her husband and three brothers, Louis Mackey, of India, Louis Mackey of India, Frank Mackey of Ohio, and a sister Matilda Stuart of Monroe Township Indiana.
