Lawrence M. Welch, previously head of the Browns town auto license unit, was named acting postmaster at Brownstown succeeding H. A. Vermilya. Welch received his commission and plans an immediate transfer. Vermilya will enter business in Brownstown, running The Toggery cleaning and pressing shop and resuming the State Automobile Insurance Association agency. Welch, active in Jackson county Democratic politics, will devote full time to the post office with a civil service exam to determine a permanent appointment.

Milk bottle crash injures man on Indiana work train
Samuel Woolman of Columbus was cut by a flying milk bottle that smashed a glass window of a Public Service Company of Indiana work train he rode on Friday. Carl Voelz, 24, of Columbus, was fatally injured in a head on collision with the milk track. Ed Berry, motorman, and Jake Vautau and Charles Eckert of Columbus were aboard. Funeral services for Voelz were held this afternoon. Heavy rain is blamed in part for the crash.

Four Killed in Southwest Gale
A violent tornado from the southwest struck a Caddo Parish lumber camp and a plantation near Shreveport Louisiana on Sunday causing four deaths. Harry Baker formerly of the city was arrested in Indianapolis on forgery charges. He is jailed in Brownstown after a November 20 incident in Jennings county involving a cow and hogs traded for a radio a revolver and $14. Police say he left Seymour and was captured last Thursday. Seymour city council will hold its last regular meeting of 1933 at 7 30 p m in the council chamber. City engineer Charles Mather plans proposed projects to extend civil works employment. funding would be minor and require city materials. If approved, Mather and Dr F N Kestner will take applications to Indianapolis for state board approval. The gathering also marks the end of the current four year administration though the same group will govern Seymour in 1934 under a skip election law.

Pearson Rites Held for Nazarene Minister at 89
Funeral services for the Rev. H. C. Pearson 89 Nazarene evangelist were held at 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. W. Morris in charge. Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery. Pearson preached his last sermon on November 5 the day before his eighty ninth birthday at his home on 420 Indianapolis Avenue.

Car Crashes Into Ditch After Near Miss Near Seymour
Mrs. Mary Tucker and Harry Hosea, both of Indianapolis and former Seymour residents, were injured when their vehicle swerved to avoid a car entering the road north of Southport. The car overturned in a ditch around 5:30 PM, breaking Hosea's collarbone and causing painful bruises to both passengers.
