FBI Seeks Former Bedford Adjuster for Insurance Fraud
A 40 year old former Bedford insurance adjuster, arrested December 6 1957 for faking a traffic accident north of Kurtz to swindle an insurer, is being sought by the FBI over forging and cashing 16000 in blank claim checks. Gilbert M Cook faces Bedford forgery and swindling charges and federal counts of interstate transportation of stolen property. He failed to appear in Lawrence Circuit Court on one charge and is indicted in connection with transporting and passing fraudulent checks across New Albany, Fortville, Indianapolis, Jeffersonville, Evansville and Noblesville. Since October 17, 1957, 16419 in fraudulent checks have been found.
