Seymour state police post checked trucks on U S Road 31 for about five hours and arrested eleven drivers for operating overweight. Herbert W. Jones of Nashville Tennessee pled guilty to overweight on the second axle and was fined 530 dollars and costs 12.55. Five drivers were sent to City Court. Page 3 column 3.

Fire Levels Farmhouse Near Chestnut Ridge
Neighbors halted spread of a blaze that destroyed a six room frame house on the Henry Eggersman place four and a half miles southeast of Seymour. Millard Davis his wife and four sons were displaced when the two story structure burned though some belongings and a washing machine were saved. The family had recently sold the farm to Walter Kreinhagen. No damage estimate was given and the home and possessions were insured. Jack Davis 16 found the fire and alerted others.

A noon crash seven miles north of Seymour involving a 1946 pickup and a 1940 coupe injured five people, three seriously. John L. Stewart of Indianapolis and others were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Stewart faces a possible DUI charge in Bartholomew County, Copeland jailed for public intoxication. Harry F. Two Airmen Hurt in Emergency Bail Out Near Reno
Six crew members bailed from a distressed Air Force C-82 cargo plane about 35 miles east of Reno Nevada near Highway 40. One airman broke a leg and another a arm as five hikers were found by a passing motorist and a rescue party prepared to reach the leg injury.
