Austin Man Is Hurt in Crash Near Austin
Walter Kirk Scott, 47, of Austin R2, was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital after a Wednesday night crash on U S Road 31 near the Southern Kitchen north of Austin. He suffered a deep scalp laceration, a cut above the left eye, and a right hip injury when his car hit a truck, tearing out its rear tandem axle. The incident was investigated by Officer Joseph S. Watson of the Seymour state police post.

Seal Sentenced for Reckless Homicide in Jackson Circuit Court
Delcie Seal, 25, Crothersville, found guilty Wednesday afternoon in Jackson Circuit Court at Brownstown on a charge of reckless homicide. His $541.10 total fine and costs were stayed, freeing him after a 50 minute jury verdict by 12 Jackson county men. The trial began Tuesday morning with E. A. Blish mentioned in proceedings.

Case to Go to Circuit Court One Man Fined
Arraigned in city court before Mayor Donald L. Herwig on public intoxication. Everett Sweany of Seymour was fined 10 dollars plus costs totaling 20 dollars after arrest Wednesday night by city police. Elmer Lazzell of Indianapolis, charged with second offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence, was not tried as counsel seeks a jury trial and the case may be refiled in Jackson Circuit Court at Browns Town. Lazzell has been free on 200 dollars bond since Monday following a Sunday night accident at Tipton and Chestnut streets and hospital treatment after refusing to enter the city jail.
