Seymour residents with unpaid or incomplete taps face a city deadline under ordinance, with 44 offenders named for action by December 28. At a board meeting, sewer connections approved, and bids let for street materials, gasoline, oil, and surfacing for the coming year.
Nomination blanks for the 12th annual Distinguished Service Award are mailed to Seymour area civic organizations. Nominees aged 21 to 35 must meet criteria of community welfare, leadership and civic contribution. Deadline is Jan 10, with Boss of the Year to be named at the DSA Bosses Night on Jan 17 at the Seymour Elks Club.

Sunny, mild weather returned with highs 38 to 52 degrees and little overall temperature change expected through Saturday.
Public Service Company of Indiana employees received service pins at the Christmas dinner in Browns town. Fred Nuss, Brownstown manager, was honored for 45 years with a diamond tie tac. Nuss joined PSI in 1917 and rose to his current post. Dozens of colleagues from Seymour North Vernon and Browns town were named for 5 to 40 year pins.

Construction is progressing on a new maintenance hangar at Seymour Municipal Airport to be leased by the Seymour Aviation Commission to Seymour Airmotive for its operations. Structural steel is rising and remaining building parts have arrived for rapid assembly. Timperman Sales and Service, Inc., Seymour, is the contractor.
