The Seymour Community Choir and Shields High School singers performed Handel’s The Messiah to a large audience Sunday afternoon at Shields High School auditorium. Indianapolis soloists Miss Ann Snedeger and Miss Rosalind Phillips joined Loren MacDonald and Paul W. Rigsbee in leading the 150 singers, with Norma Barkman at the piano. The program, the second public presentation by the group, drew applause and promises of an Easter show to follow.

Efforts to save injured deer end in death
Local residents tried to save a wild deer struck by a truck on Road 50 near the Jackson-Brownstown line west of Seymour. Conservation Officer Philip Crecelius tracked the animal Sunday after the deer fled into a cornfield but it died Sunday night despite mounting rescue efforts by volunteers using horses and foot followers.

Youth Arrested After Wreck At City's Edge
Ralph Steinkamp of Brownstown faces a reckless driving charge after a Saturday night collision at the Tipton and Hancock Streets intersection just west of Seymour state police post. Steinkamp pleads not guilty as trial set for 8:30 tonight in Justice of the Peace court. Occupants sustained minor injuries. Clarence Brunner of Scottsburg, driver of the other vehicle, filed the charge.

C. J. Simmons of Hayden known in Seymour died suddenly at 4 30 Sunday morning at his Hayden home. Funeral services are set for Tuesday afternoon at a North Vernon funeral home. He is survived by his widow, three sons Robert Howard and Clarence, two daughters Mary and Mrs. Flossie Riggles, plus several brothers and sisters.

Mrs Hattie Kline Dies in Indianapolis
Mrs. Hattie Kline of Indianapolis and formerly of Seymour died at St Vincent's Hospital at 1 15 PM after a several months illness. Born October 7 1886 in Seymour she was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Niemeyer Deppert. She married Fred Kline on June 39 1908 and he died June 9 1929. They moved to Indianapolis about 25 years ago and she lived with nephew Joseph Pferrer. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Light Work is removed prelim to installing two new corner signals at Sec ond and Chestnut streets. Electric cable will run from southeast corner to northwest signal site. One signal to be placed at southeast corner and the other at the northwest corner. Each signal will have its own timer so one can run if the other is out of service. Signals ordered by city but not yet arrived. Pending arrival, installation will replace the current center signal. City plans to reuse the removed center signal at a downtown intersection to ease traffic and reduce accidents.
