Yule Tree Trip Ends in Tragedy
Ward Brooks age 37 of Seymour Indiana died after a trip to fetch a Christmas tree for his foster daughter. He was found in a stream bed near Koop farm north of Seymour with no signs of violence. Investigators believe he suffered a spasm and fell into the stream while cutting cedars with a kitchen knife.

Two motorists fined in Seymour justice court
Thomas Wilson Beard of Louisville and Florence Thompson of Indianapolis were fined 1 and costs totaling 9.75 for reckless driving and passing in a no passing zone. Officers Warren A. Taflinger of the Seymour state police post arrested them on U S Road 31 southeast of Seymour.

Two Seymour youths held for post office burglary
Kernel Tankersley twenty and Lawrence Black nineteen confessed to breaking into the Seymour post office on December 9. They were arrested at their homes by Seymour city police and jailed awaiting federal authorities. Black had returned from the penal farm on December 6. Tankersley had recently come from Pendleton reformatory.

Epworth League of the First Methodist Church provides toy furniture for Legion Santa baskets. Boy Scout Troop No. 4 contributes 4 dollars. total donations reach 55 dollars, about a quarter of the needed amount. League has 168 chairs, 42 tables, 19 wagons, 18 sleds ready. Baskets will be distributed to children under seven in unfortunate homes.

Fire damages house on West Second Street
A fire at 2:55 this morning damaged a residence at 614 West Second Street occupied by Ed ward D Lewis and family. Firemen used water from a booster tank to extinguish a fireplace blaze that scorched joists beneath. The home is owned by Albert Anffenders.
