West River Receding as Four State Highways Remain Closed
Flooding on the West River receded toward its banks in Seymour area with at least four state highways closed by high water. At 7 am, Ruth Everhart reported Rockford gauge at 15.2 feet, above the 14 foot flood stage. Closed routes include Ind 39 south of Tampico, Ind 258 west of Seymour, Ind 256 west of Austin, and Ind 235 east of Medora. The Weather Bureau predicts little precipitation this five day period with a light snow flurry chance and a warming trend starting Monday. Morning low dipped to 22 degrees, high only 28 Tuesday.

Out Of Control Car Hits Home In School District
An auto crash at Sixth and Pine streets this morning caused extensive porch damage, lawn destruction, and a totaled 1963 convertible. No children were injured as pedestrians had just crossed nearby schools. John RO Emily, 18, Seymour, was cited for reckless driving after the car ran 130 feet before hitting a house, then 185 feet more. The bicycle on the porch was demolished. damages were about 750 dollars to the car and unspecified to the porch.
