Truck Mishap Blocks US 31 Near Seymour
A truck wreck blocked U S 31 for about ninety minutes on the first of three bridges south of the Kriete curve southeast of Seymour while traffic was detoured via U S 50 through North Vernon. Driver Jerry R Hill 23 Kingston NC said the trailer wheels struck the bridge abutment after the truck drifted to the right as a car approached.

Ben C Williams Dies Former Scottsburg Resident
Ben C Williams 65 of Scottsburg died shortly before noon Monday in a Louisville hospital after a weeklong illness from a heart attack. He was vice president in charge of sales for Morgan Packing Company and had lived in Scottsburg for about eight years before moving there 25 years ago. He was a cousin of Earl Parker and survived by his widow Bess Cisco, five sisters, and one brother. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church in Scottsburg with burial in a Madison cemetery. Friends may call at Stewart Funeral Home in Scottsburg.

C of C to Elect Officers by Mail Ballot in Seymour
Seymour Chamber of Commerce will elect its board by mail ballot this year with an advance fee sent in early February. Ballots go to all members mid February and return by March 1 to form a new board for installation after the mid March annual meeting. Louisville Newsman Convicted of Sedition Sentenced to 15 Years
A 40 year old newsman, Carl Braden, was found guilty of sedition by a Criminal Court jury and sentenced to 15 years in prison plus a $5,000 fine. Braden was discharged as a copyreader by the Courier Journal, and his lawyers planned motions for a new trial and arrest of judgment.
