Woman minister's wife killed in two car crash near Franklin
Mrs Anna L Chowning 44 wife of Wallonia Christian Church minister died after a collision on Interstate 65 in Shelby County near the Blue River bridge. Arthur Mengarelli 65 of Skokie Illinois also died. his wife Pauline 65 sustained injuries. Chowning was en route to Manchester College to pick up her son Wayne. Funeral services set for Wallonia Christian Church with details at Johnson Funeral Home Wallonia.

Seymour board of aviation commissioners authorized a contract to repair the air port railroad spur serving industrial areas at Freeman Field. Central Engineering and Construction Co. of Indianapolis won with a bid of 3,475 dollars, beating Annex Railroad Builders Inc which bid 5,200 dollars. Annex proposed using used rails at 875 dollars plus 4,325 dollars to complete the spur. A lease between the aviation board and Rhoades Aircraft Sales for building T-251 was also approved.

Special Judge Fines Four On Guilty Plea
Four young men arrested April 7 at a Seymour mobile home park in a drug raid pleaded guilty and were fined $25 and costs by Judge Sidney H. Showalter in Jackson Circuit Court. The defendants from Brownstown and Seymour faced visiting a common nuisance charges. three others from the eight arrested remain in court or pending trials.
