The Jackson county board of commissioners will meet Tuesday January 2 to receive bids for 1951 supplies. Sealed bids due by 10 am include 50 000 gallons or less of high grade gasoline 15 000 gallons or less of fuel oil lubricating oils and greases for trucks tractors diesel motors and other equipment delivered to county highway tanks during 1951. Bids also cover 35 000 board feet or less of white oak lumber and 10 000 board feet or less of 2x9x14 16 ft stock delivered to the county highway garage.

Rites Planned for Set Avery Green
Master Sergeant Avery Green 25 was killed in action in Korea and his body returned to the United States. He will be taken to his parents home in Columbus for a military funeral to be announced later. Green was born near Seymour and lived in Jackson county before enlisting in July 1943. He was a B 29 flight engineer who said in a letter he had completed 13 missions over Korea.

Officers Search River For Trace of Man
State police from the Seymour post dragged White River near Rockford for six hours searching for the body of Robert L. Judge 22 Indianapolis who drowned last Thursday. They worked north from the covered bridge west of Seymour to the dam near Rockford without success. Judge was a signal man for the Pennsylvania Railroad who fell from a snow and ice covered trestle while trying to safety after hearing an approaching train.
