Five hurt in two auto crash south of city
A weekend string of accidents left five people injured. Fog on highways contributed to crashes along U S Route 31 near the Muscatatuck River bridge. Sylvia Walker 27 Celina Tenn suffered severe head injuries and is in Schneck Memorial Hospital. Emmett Knoke 505 West Seventh street, driver of the other car, sustained head lacerations. George Walker, 29, Celina Tenn, J Everett Kaley 633 North Poplar street, and James McLerren 28 Moss Tenn also injured and treated. Knoke faces reckless driving charges.

Police Attend Public Education School Now
A total of 49 state police enrolled at Indianapolis for a weeklong public education school to train for a state program educating youth and adults in traffic, accident, and crime prevention. Col. Robert Rossow chairs a faculty including newspaper and radio men, speech instructors, police officials, and support-group representatives. Attendees from Seymour post include Cpl. Automobile Damaged In Accident on U S 50
A 1946 model automobile driven by Mrs. Hazel Jackson of near Heltonville was overturned after a tire blew out on U S Road 50 two miles east of Bedford Friday afternoon. The car left the pavement, struck a fence, and was damaged about 500 dollars. Mrs. Jackson was not injured.

Mrs Lillie Stants Dies After Illness of Six Years
Mrs Lillie Ann Stants 74 of 327 North Chestnut Street died early today after a six year illness. Born in Coal City Indiana on April 6 1874 she was the daughter of the late Lee and Sarah Blacketter Herod. She married Bridwell Stants April 15 1895 in Coal City he died December 30 1918. She moved to Seymour 43 years ago and was a Church of Christ member. Survived by four children Herold J Stants Pittsburgh Pa Mrs Frank A Ferry Indianapolis Miss Sylvia Stants Seymour and Mrs Wear Orttel Columbus one grandchild. Funeral 2 pm Wednesday at Voss Mortuary with burial at Riverview Cemetery. Rev E A Williams to officiate. Friends may call after 4 pm Tuesday at Voss Mortuary.

Twins Born To Ewing Couple At Schneck Memorial
Mr and Mrs William H Londot of Ewing are the surprised parents of twin boys born at Schneck Memorial Hospital. The first weighed six pounds nine hundred forty two ounces and arrived at 7 43 am. The second tipped the scales at eight pounds six ounces and appeared at 7 54 am. The mother had yet to name the boys.

Youth Loses Hand In Accident At Veneer Plant
Robert Speckner age 21 of 622 South Carter Street suffered the loss of his left hand at the B. J. Cummings Veneer Company plant near noon today. He was operating a clipper machine when a wood piece became lodged and his hand was dragged into gears. Speckner was taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital where the injured hand was amputated.

Funeral services for 69 year old Mrs. Della Bailey of East Columbus were held Friday at 1:30 pm at Flanigan Reed and Hull Funeral Home with Rev. James E Meyers officiating. Burial followed in Garland Brook Cemetery. She died last Wednesday at North Madison state hospital after a six month illness. Born March 18 1879 in Jackson county she lived in the Houston Kurtz area most of her life and in East Columbus for nine years. Surviving are son Ray Hill of East Columbus two sisters Emma Hatton Indianapolis and James Carter Hebron four grandchildren 13 great grandchildren and a third sister Effie Moffet Columbus. She was a member of Houston Christian Church. Her husband Thomas Bailey preceded her in death. Fern Vaughn of Seymour is her great niece.
