Edman Trial: Father Nathan Clark to Testify
Nathan Clark 69 year old father of Ruth Edman Clark, shot dead by ex husband David Edman, is expected to testify Monday or Tuesday. He was wounded in the Feb 13 ambush near Ogilville, Bartholomew County, while authorities pursue the defense claim that Edman acted in self defense after being struck with a weapon. The case, heard in Jackson Circuit Court Brownstown, draws statewide attention as defense counters Thomas Branaman and Taylor Hoffar argue Edman and Ruth were on good terms and living together near the Clark home. The proceedings paused for Monday after Judge George H Gossman recessed the trial.

Oil Well Drilling Begins Northwest of Seymour
A new oil well is under way in Bartholomew county northwest of Seymour with a second well planned in Wayne township. H Paul Waterbury of Mt. Carmel leads the Waterbury operation as 235 feet were drilled with gas and oil showings at 182 feet. If needed the depth could reach 1600 feet into the lower Trenton formation on Miss Mabel Lee’s farm five miles southwest of Columbus.

Seymour's Immanuel Lutheran Church marks 77 years since 1870 when 11 charter members formed the congregation. Early services were held in Rockford in the 1850s led by pastors J. G. Sauer FE Skinkenberg and H. Juengel. Charter trustees Henry Buse Ephraim Ahlbrand and John Rapp organized the church on the Poplar and Oak corner with a $25 lot purchase. Cornerstone laid by year end.

Mrs Jennie McKinney To Be Buried Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie McKinney will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Freetown. Burial follows in Taylor's Chapel cemetery. She died Thursday at age eighty six at her granddaughter’s home in Greenwood after a three month illness. She widow of Samuel McKinney died in 1919 and is survived by four sons, fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Friends may call at Winklespleck Funeral Home in Freetown beginning today at noon.
