Death Summons Mrs Carpenter of Vernon and Jennings
Mrs Ruth Carpenter 73 lifelong Vernon township and western Jennings county resident died at midnight Monday at Paris Crossing Al three miles northwest of Marion Church after a weeklong illness following a stroke. Funeral services are set for 1 pm from the home and 1 30 pm at Marion Baptist Church with Rev Walter Moseley. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery. Born January 8 1866 in Jackson County she was the daughter of Luther and Anna Brooks and married Lafayette Carpenter October 9 1886. She is survived by the husband and a sister Mrs Caldonia Keller of Marion Ind.

1939 Auto Tags Begin Sale Across County
Motor vehicle owners in Seymour and surrounding areas bought blue and gold 1939 license plates on the second day of the state tag sale. About 150 plate sets were sold Monday, with many more applications and operator licenses processed. Plates, produced at Michigan City prison, must be displayed after December 21, and motorists need poll tax receipts and applicable envelopes from the statehouse.

Santa Parade Draws Hundreds to Seymour Downtown

Mrs. Ida M. Whitson aged 75 widow of William M. Whitson formerly of Seymour National Bank, died suddenly at 9 this morning from a heart attack at 601 Indianapolis avenue. She was a native of Austin born February 11, 1863, active in First Methodist Church and a member of Alpha class, Ladies Aid, Women’s Foreign Missionary Society and Order of Eastern Star. Survived by son Raymond L. Whitson of Scottsburg, brothers Elvin Hughbanks and Clarence Hughbanks, sister Mrs. C E Mann, and two grandchildren. Funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday from the First Methodist, burial Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at Voss Mortuary.

Capital Man Is Facing Charge In Larceny Case
Cecil Ruddick twenty one of Indianapolis faces larceny charges for stealing seven one dollar watches from Cox Pharmacy on North Chestnut Street Monday night. He pleaded guilty and judgment was withheld until Wednesday morning. Ruddick was held in Seymour city jail awaiting investigation of prior record. Watches recovered after his arrest.

In a separate incident near the Kriete curve on U S Road 31, James C. Boggs of Indianapolis rolled an auto after leaving the road, plunging an eighteen foot embankment. he was uninjured.
