Six Men Named to Probe Slaying Case
A grand jury announced today that six men will be chosen to probe the slaying of Jesse Elkins. The listed men include Leonard Henderson of Carr township, Fred Altemeyer of Hamilton, Fred Klinger of Washington, Clarence Turmai and Elmer Christopher of Driftwood, Roy Beldon of Grassy Fork, Henry Horstman of Brownstown, and Martin Steinwedel and Ira D. Crabb of Jackson township.

Nine men were chosen for grand jury service and a fifteen member petit jury was announced. If a trial proceeds at the December term, some jurors may be called. Ruth Hammond remains jailed on a five thousand dollar bond after being charged with first degree murder in the slaying of Jesse Elkins.
No Bones Broken After Railroad Yard Fall
John Banta of 310 East Second Street, an employee of the C. M. & St. Paul railroad, sustained a severe back bruise and other injuries when he fell from a train in Terre Haute yards. He was reported to be in St. Anthony hospital, with his wife Banta returning from Terre Haute. doctors believed no bones were broken though the full extent was pending.
