Suspects With Tools Are Jailed
Three Indianapolis men, Franklin C. Rance 36, Larry W. Thurston 28, and William E. Silcox 41, are held in Jackson County jail on burglary tool possession after an off duty state trooper shadowed them for about three hours from Columbus to Seymour. They were linked to a Danville bank burglary and Moose Lodge break in with over $3,000 in loot, and all have lengthy police records.

Buses Set For Dedication At Brownstown Elementary
Brownstown Central school board opts shuttle buses for the dedication and open house of the new Browns town elementary school due to limited parking. Buses run from the town square at 1 30 p m Sunday to the dedication at 2 p m and 15 000 gallons of December fuel oil were allotted, down from 20 000 last December.

Jail Escapee Is Captured In Bloomington Ill
One of two Scottsburg jail escapees, Joseph J. Bowles 18, was captured by Bloomington police around 9 a.m. Bowles and William J. Barker 19 fled the Scott County jail at 2 a.m. by cutting bars and using a makeshift rope. They reportedly stole a 1970 sedan. Barker remains at large as authorities continue the search.

County Council Blocks Welfare Wage Increase Dispute
In a special session the Jackson County Council disallowed raised wages for a welfare department case worker and two clerks. Auditor Lynn Roberts Jr said the welfare board had approved the raises but the council asserted wage setting rests with the county. The department had already raised May wages and the council may seek an opinion from the state board of accounts.

The Seymour Christmas Basket Fund totals 761 dollars after 159 dollars in donations today. Seymour city firemen contribute 100 dollars as the 55th annual drive, co sponsored by the Seymour Daily Tribune and American Legion Post 89. Donations support baskets for needy Seymour area families with a week left in the drive. Contributions can be mailed or delivered to the Tribune office or to treasurer LeRoy Pollett at Seymour National Bank, with names sent to the fund box.
