Moon explorers press on in Taurus-Littrow valley
Astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt rested after a near perfect landing and began a 20 mile survey of Taurus Littrow. They planned to collect 200 pounds of rocks and explore a lunar landslide for ancient material while Ronald Evans orbited. The flag was planted on the moon as tempers rose with the lunar dust and sunlit glow.

Brownstown Man Injured In U S 50 Accident
A Brownstown area man, Steven B. Disque, 23, was injured in a single vehicle crash on U S 50 west of Brownstown at 2 20 am. His pickup overturned down a 50 foot embankment. He was taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital for a forehead laceration and pains in the shoulder and leg. Damage to the truck was $200.

Seymour council approves year end fund transfers and trust fund
In the final 1972 meeting council approved two resolutions. Resolution 19 authorized transferring 9 201.25 across five city departments including city judge 380 garbage sanitation garage 3 200 city building 3 300 fire 750 and police 1 571 25 by a 6 0 vote with Herbert Williams absent. Resolution 20 established a Federal Revenue Sharing Trust Fund and bank records under the Federal depository act. An amendment removing the word separate for the bank account passed 6 0 with Gordon Elsner and Edmund Murray voting in favor.

Sewer System May Benefit From EPA Regulation Change
The EPA regulation enacted in October may help Seymour upgrade its troubled sewer system. Mayor Moritz met with engineer Ray Pasche of Henry B. Steeg and Associates who said the law allows sewer lines to be included in sewage treatment facility programs. The city must file a supplemental addendum and revise the sewer master plan with projections, while seeking an extension beyond the December 31 1972 construction start deadline.
