Man Changes Plea in Incest Case. Jury Discharged
In Jackson Circuit Court Noble Jaynes changed his plea to guilty to an incest charge, deemed a misdemeanor. The jury had not sworn. he was sentenced to six months at the Indiana state penal farm with costs. Judge John M. Lewis cited rehabilitation of the victim and time Jaynes already served. The October jury was discharged and the term ends December 21. He was to be transported this afternoon to begin his sentence.

Hogs Taken At Densford Farm
Jackson County Sheriff reports four hogs stolen from Frank Densford’s Austin Alabama farm during the night. Three black Hampshire hogs and one white Yorkshire hog, each in the 200 to 250 pound range, were missing. Farm located east of Austin on Ind 256. little evidence of vehicle used.

Man Found Dead In Trailer At Scottsburg
Jesse Dexter Alpha aged 54 was found dead in his Scottsburg house trailer where he lived alone. Police blamed possible asphyxiation or carbon monoxide gas after a small fire near an oil heater. A third degree burn appeared on his left shoulder. He formerly worked as a mechanic for Austin Motor Sales in Austin. Investigating officers included Deputy Coroner Hubert Buchanan Det Sgt Wayne O Tolbert Trooper Paul Hedge from Charlestown post and Scottsburg town marshal Gehl Muster.

Bar Group Honors Branaman At Jackson County Bar Meeting
The Jackson County Bar Association honored veteran Browns town attorney Thomas H. Branaman as the dean of the county bar during the mid winter meeting at the Seymour Elks Club. A framed plaque scales of justice and candelabra were presented, with a congratulatory message from Governor Welsh read aloud. Officers for 1964 were elected with Earl C. Kline named president and Jonathan J. Robertson and Robert R. Brown elected to vice president and secretary treasurer respectively.

Lions Parade Lights Seymour On Christmas Night
A large crowd plans to line West Second Street in Seymour for a Lions Club parade at 7 p m. The procession goes east on Second then north on Ewing to Standard Grocery, where the club will launch its annual Christmas tree sale. Santa Claus and Joan Vest of Scottsburg with Joan's Circus Calliope will perform, with a post parade concert at the parking lot. Vest, 12, formerly with Ringling Brothers, will also play after the parade as the calliope tours the city. Lions members will march after a dinner at the Elks Club, and a leader dog owner from Jackson County, William McMahon, is to appear with his dog.

Christmas Basket Fund total rises to 59 dollars in Seymour draw
Seymour American Legion Post 89 and the Seymour Daily Tribune report the Christmas Basket Fund has reached 59 dollars after the third day of the 45th annual drive. Four contributions amounting to 18 dollars were recorded, the same as day one. The drive trails the 1962 pace of 77 dollars by the third day. Donors are urged to contribute early as organizers plan basket contents including food and toys for needy families. Usable toys may be left at the Seymour Boys' Club.

FBI Trails Suspects in Sinatra Jr Kidnaping Case
In Hollywood the FBI sent about a dozen agents to the San Fernando Valley amid reports they seek suspects in the Sinatra Jr kidnapping. Police and officials noted FBI activity while LAPD Chief Parker criticized the lack of cooperation. Sinatra Jr was released after a $240,000 ransom arrangement and said he was kept blindfolded but unharmed.

13 Examined At TB Chest Clinic Here
A chest clinic sponsored by the Tuberculosis Association of Jackson County, Inc. examined 13 patients, nine adults and four children, five new patients. Dr. Warren S. Tucker led the exam with assistance from Red Cross nurse aide Dorothy Myers, public health nurse Ramona Boley, and association secretary Florence Ebert. Diagnosis was deferred for two patients pending further clinic study.

Seymour area roads were mostly clear after a wintry mix of snow sleet and freezing drizzle Wednesday night. State highway officials reported crews cleared icy slush and noted heavier snow in the Columbus Bloomington corridor. Local accumulations reached up to an inch with more in surrounding counties.
