Seymour will switch to North Bypath Crossbar automatic dialing just after midnight Saturday, with full operation by Sunday. New seven digit numbers, Jackson 2 exchange, and mail delivery of new directories will enable faster local and long distance calls. The system saves space, uses push buttons, and will expand from 14 to 24 toll boards as needed.

Jackson county voters approved the soil bank base acreage plan by a two thirds margin with 373 in favor and 155 for the old allotment. Nationwide totals showed 257,874 for the new plan and 163,227 for the old, short of the required two thirds. Benson supported the new plan as Congress enacted it this year.

Traffic Lights To Be Installed In Seymour Area
Seymour Board of Public Works Safety approved a traffic signal at Tipton and O’Brien Streets costing about 1359 dollars. James H. Two County Death Verdicts Reach Tuesday in Jackson County
Deputy coroner W L Burkholder returned verdicts in two Jackson county deaths. Ned Leland Garrett 14 died from accidental strangulation on a rope swing near Uniontown after an 8 pm incident Sunday. Mrs Carol Jean Martin 31 of Brownstown died Monday after stepping in front of a pickup on U S 50. The boy’s funeral was at Uniontown Baptist Church. Mrs Martin’s at Brownstown Methodist Church. Burial for both followed.

Hungarian relief funds reach public goal in Jackson County
The Jackson County Chapter of the American Red Cross has sent 235.27 dollars to national headquarters for Hungarian relief, including a 200 dollar single contribution. David Cunningham of Dudleytown is corn king with a record 184 bushels per acre on Indiana Certified 844. Waldo Wischmeier, last year’s champ, is runner up at 180. James Blair age 31 of Medora pleaded guilty to public intoxication in Mayor Isaacs court and was fined 15 dollars plus 15 dollars costs. Unable to pay, Blair was jailed in Jackson County. Police arrested him at 12 10 a m on West Tipton street in Seymour.

Defendants Enter Pleas in Court Brownstown arraignments in Jackson Circuit Court.
Several defendants faced arraignment with three not guilty pleas and one plea changes. Willard Napier switched from not guilty to guilty on a DUI charge and another plea, was fined 50 dollars plus costs and six months at the state penal farm suspended on damages paid in 90 days. his license suspension recommended for one year. Napier also pled guilty to driving with suspended license and received 30 days at the penal farm. James Amos, charged with first degree arson, pled not guilty and a trial set for Jan. 24 with bond at 2,000. Clarence Foster pled not guilty to a statutory offense with 2,000 bond. Earl Shutters pled not guilty to driving with suspended license, bond 1,000. A civil suit, Dorothy Pruett versus Earl L. Umback, seeking 25,000, was set for Feb. 21.

Colder Weather Forecast With Snow in Indiana
