Four people died in a smoke filled tourist cabin near Tacoma Washington from a smoldering couch fire. Cpl James R Elliott 28 of Seymour was identified as among the casualties. He served in the U S Navy during World War II and recently moved to Fort Lewis Washington. Information came from the Elliott family and AP dispatches from Tacoma.

Autos Damaged in Foggy State Road 258 Crash
Two cars were damaged in Acme on State Road 258 during dense fog late Saturday. A 1937 sedan driven by Robert Lee Roberts of Cortland Al collided with a 1935 coupe driven by Elmer Sutton of Freetown near a service station, causing about 75 and 40 dollars in damage respectively. Both cars were traveling west.

Man Fined for Two Charges in Jackson Circuit Court
Robert N. Gonterman of Evansville pleaded guilty in Jackson Circuit Court to public intoxication and resisting arrest. He received $10 fines and $10.80 costs per charge and six months at the state penal farm per charge, suspended due to family and employment.
