A Clearspring garage owned by Ralph Scott burned down just after midnight. Losses may reach 30000 dollars and were partly covered by insurance. Labrador Survivors Flown to Washington
Six survivors of the Army Transport plane crash in Labrador were flown from Goose Bay to Walter Reed hospital, after an earlier trio was rescued. The six had been among 29 aboard when the plane struck a low hillside in the snowbound wasteland. 23 were killed. The first three rescued were Lieutenant J. M. Bickley of Santa Monica California Corporal John Shaner of Harrisburg Pennsylvania and Lieutenant Colonel Harry Bullis of Portland Michigan. They were reported in fair condition.
