A new divorce case Inez Arbuckle vs Clarence Arbuckle was filed. They married February 3 1941 and separated December 5 1944. She seeks alimony of 2000. Three civil suits were listed: Henry A. Scandrett vs Frank S. Tillman doing business as LaCrosse to cover switching charges, Charles M. Thomson trustee vs Frank S Tillman doing business as LaCrosse Concrete Supply Company, and Henry A. Mrs. Ruth Voss of Jonesville reports her husband Pfc Bennie Voss was slightly wounded in Germany on November 25. He writes of recovering in a French hospital after serving in the First Army infantry division on the Western Front. Inducted December 1943, he went overseas June 1944 from Noblitz Sparks Industries.

Wente Tops County in 1944 DeKalb Corn Contest
Clarence Wente of Cortland produced 97.27 bushels per acre to win Jackson county’s corn growing championship in the 1944 DeKalb Corn Growing Contest. The event drew thousands of farmers from 18 states, part of a national yield effort reaching 3.26 billion bushels. Wente’s yield used Hybrid No. 817A on a five acre tract and earned a commemorative plaque. Other high yields included Henry Plumer and Lawrence L. Frische at Seymour with 92.40 and 88.24 bushels respectively.

County Woman Mary Louise Schneider Dies at Home
Mrs Mary Louise Schneider aged seventy nine longtime Jackson County resident died Monday morning at her Wallonia Al home after a two week illness following a stroke of apoplexy. She was a Trinity Lutheran Driftwood member born September 23 1865 in Brownstown township daughter of Fred and Charlotte Quade. She married Frederick in the area where she had lived all her life.
