A Sunday afternoon concert at Shields High School featured a massed chorus of over 265 high school singers from Browns Town Clearspring Cortland Crothersville Medora Seymour Tampico and Wallonia. Directed by Harold Robert guest conductor from Madison Indiana the performance included thirteen Christmas numbers and was hailed as one of the county’s most inspirational high school programs.

The opening of license plate sales reported brisk in Seymour with about 85 passenger, 15 truck and trailer plates sold in four hours. W H Sanders bought the first passenger plate No 287 501 and John Marquette took the first truck plate 755 201. About 150 driver licenses were issued as the sale began and some envelopes still awaited delivery from the statehouse.

A sixteen foot Christmas tree was erected on the old town clock tower above the Majestic Theater in Seymour to support the Legion Santa Fund for unhappy children. The tree was lit Sunday night and visible for miles, with workers from Indiana Telephone and Public Service Company of Indiana donating services and equipment. Walter H Droege led the effort for Seymour Post No. 89 and the tree replaced the downtown tree plan.

Several Jackson county crashes occurred over the weekend with Otis Hardestyinjured after being struck on Jeffersonville Avenue by Max Hill. Laurel Coats was fined for reckless driving after a collision on US 31 near the Coffee Pot Curve with John Emily.
